A question I get asked a lot is “Does the law of attraction work for children?” and it’s certainly a question I wanted to know when I first learned about the law of attraction.
The answer is yes. The law of attraction does work for children. It works for everyone on the planet, young or old, rich or poor, no exceptions. The truth is that children are much more able to attract what they want because they’ve built up far less limiting/negative beliefs. And it’s usually the limiting beliefs that block the things we want to attract.
Children have far fewer negative beliefs and therefore they have less blocks in the way, making attracting things they want much easier. Also children tend to keep things simple.
As a parent it’s super important to make sure that the messages we give our children are positive and that we are supporting our children in ways which allow them to create the life they want for themselves.
Children begin forming their beliefs from the minute they are born and many of the limiting beliefs we have as adults were actually formed when we were young children, so (I know I’m repeating myself) it’s so very important to check in with ourselves to see what messages we are giving our children.
One message I used to give my child was “We don’t have enough.” I was generally referring to money but the message was so often “We don’t have enough, we can’t afford it.”
So let’s take that example and I’ll give you a “word re-frame” so that you give your child a more positive message.
My son loves to go to the cinema, as do I. There have been times when 3 or 4 films have come out that he’s wanted to see all at the same time (or within a few weeks of each other) and the finances have not been able to stretch that far.
In the past, I would have said something along the lines of “We can’t go and see them all. I can’t afford it. I haven’t got enough money…” Notice all the negative words in there. I would also feel really rubbish as I said this to my son.
Two things are happening here:
- I’m giving my son the belief that we never have enough money.
- I’m sending out a strong message saying I don’t have enough. My vibration around money in this situation is negative. The law of attraction always matches our vibrations.
A positive approach
Now let’s take the same situation and re-frame it.
You can say “We can go to the cinema once this month. Which film would you like to choose to go and see?”
The message we are sending out this way is positive:
- Yes, we can afford to do nice things.
- Your vibrations around money are positive and remember that the law of attraction always matches your vibrations.
The realization that the law of attraction does work for children
I always like to share my own stories with you as I feel this is the best way for me to teach. Although I have always been a positive person I have not always understood the power of the law of attraction and how to use it in my own life. My son was about 7 when I first started seriously learning about the law of attraction. Very early on in my training I started thinking ~ Wow, if this is working for me after years of negative beliefs holding me back imagine what my son can achieve in life if he starts thinking this way now.
So that was the realization that I can attract the life I want and I can also help my son learn how to attract the life he wants. Let me tell you it was a real breakthrough time in my own life.
Positive messages
Positive messages are so important if you really want your child to grow up understanding that they have the power to create their own life. I have been using the law of attraction in my life since 2007 and I am a fully qualified law of attraction practitioner. Now here’s the thing I really want to share with you today. I still have hidden away negative beliefs. I still pass those negative beliefs onto my child from time to time. I had been collecting my beliefs for over 30 years and some of those beliefs are well tucked away. The great thing about having a child (for me) is that once that negative belief has manifested into me saying something negative to my child, I usually spot it quickly and get to work on replacing that belief.
I am also very quick to sit my son down and say “Do you know what? I just said something that was completely incorrect. It came from a silly belief I used to have. I’m sorry” Then we can swap whatever message I gave him for a more positive message.
It’s a learning process. As we move through life different issues arise and we deal with them as they do. Yes sometimes those negative beliefs may surface and that’s great. It means you have the opportunity to release another belief that no longer serve you and replace it with a new positive belief.
So in conclusion to the question “Does the law of attraction work for children?” My answer is a clear YES!
WARNING! For children to be able to use the law of attraction effectively to create the life they want, as parents, carers, grand-parents, teacher… We need to make sure we are giving them positive beliefs.
